Lexus Continues Its Pursuit of Perfection With the All-New LS
One of the things that has kept Lexus ahead of the competition for as long as it has been, is the brand’s unyielding pursuit of perfection.
According to Lexus Managing Officer, Takeshi Yoshida, the automaker defines this process as “a capacity to continuously and relentlessly acquire and apply knowledge to evolve and innovate.”
Time and time again, Lexus has proven that the pursuit of perfection takes a great deal of time, a painstaking amount of effort, and scrupulous attention to detail in the design and manufacturing of its vehicles.
From what we’ve seen at Lexus of Highland Park, this couldn’t be more evident than in the interior restyling of the 2015 Lexus LS.
The Japanese automaker wants to make it crystal clear that this is one sedan that won’t be outdone from its more expensive luxury adversaries.
Lexus went to great lengths to ensure that its flagship sedan was equipped with the highest quality technology and materials in its class.
Of the many standard features and upgrades available to LS enthusiasts, like the exclusive four-zone climate concierge, 12.3 inch split screen multi-media display, and Lexus executive-class seating package, the detail that went into making the Shimamoku Espresso wood steering wheel for the brand’s all-new sedan, is extraordinary.
Lexus poured 38 days of brilliant craftsmanship into 67 meticulous steps to create a work of modern art.
Three different suppliers are responsible for taking some of the finest agathis ever-green trees of South America and Australia, and sculpting them into the beautiful Shimamoku wood that graces the Lexus LS.
Agathis timber is a fine, straight-grained wood with a silky, lustrous surface. It’s lightweight and durable at the same time, bearing a distinct yellowish-brownish hue.
Lexus supplier, Hoxan, Inc, takes seven days to perform the first steps of an arduous process of laminating and finishing the agathis wood, while Panasonic Eco Solutions, an interior building products supplier spends another 17 days to complete the second stage of the process.
After 14 days, lumber supply company, Tendo, Inc. applies the final effortful touches.
The result is a brilliantly designed master piece involving alternating layers of dark and light shaded veneers that have been flawlessly bonded together, shaped and buffed, to create the LS’ Shimamoku wood interior.
Lexus of Highland Park stands by the artistry and skill that goes into every Lexus vehicle.
It’s every part of the brand’s pursuit of perfection.
