The Lexus Enform Remote App Makes Controlling Your Car Easier Than Ever
Lexus now offers its customers the Lexus Enform Remote app, a smartphone app that makes lending your teenager the family car almost completely worry-free. With the new app, you can set distinct limitations on your vehicles, and receive notifications when those limits are exceeded.
The guest driver monitor enables you to preset limits on vehicular speed, time curfew, driving miles, engine run time, total elapsed time, or distance from a set location. While it can’t altogether stop the driver from exceeding these limitations, the app will alert you if anyone breaks your rules. It will then send a call to the Bluetooth-enabled vehicle, putting the driver back on the right path without the need to remove their hands from the wheel.
It is good to know, not only for teenagers, but for older drivers in the family, nannies, or anyone else you need to lend your car.
You can also use the app to remotely check the status of your vehicle’s doors, windows, moonroof, trunk, hood, and convertible top, as well as the car’s current fuel level, odometer, or trip mileage.
The Lexus Enform Remote app also enables you to remotely start or stop the engine so you can warm the car up on cold mornings or cool it off on hot afternoons. It will run the engine for up to ten minutes or until any door is opened, the brakes are pressed, or you turn it off.
You can also unlock your Lexus remotely through the app, but the door will automatically relock after 60 seconds if no further action takes place. You can also use the app to find your car’s location in a parking lot.
The Lexus Enform Remote app is available on 2015 Lexus IS, GS, LS, RC, RC F and Navigation-equipped ES and NX. The first year is free, then costs $219.95 a year, an investment that also covers the rest of the Suite of Lexus Enform features, including Safety Connect and Destinations.
SafetyConnect sends enhanced roadside assistance to your vehicle’s GPS location, and includes an SOS emergency assistance button, stolen vehicle notification, and an automatic collision notification that connects you instantly to a response center agent in the event of a crash.
Lexus Enform Destinations offers 24-hour, en-route navigation assistance from a live response center agent who can help you find locations and automatically upload them to your navigation system. Lexus Enform also connects with your smartphone so you can access your favorite mobile applications through your vehicle’s center console display. Select vehicles also feature voice recognition software to operate the apps verbally. Lexus aims to keep your hands on the wheel, and while it’s impossible to prevent every single accident, the Lexus Enform Remote app is as close as you can get.
