Lexus Short Films, in conjunction with the Weinstein Company, a multimedia production and distribution company known for creating films like Scream, My Week With Marilyn, Scary Movie, and the King’s Speech – just announced the winners of the new Lexus Short Film series during this year’s Napa Valley Film Festival.
And Lexus of Highland Park is excited that these rising talent gets a shot at their dreams.
For the third year in a row, burgeoning filmmakers have the chance to produce and showcase their work on a global scale courtesy of The Weinstein Company and Lexus Short Films.
Here’s how it works. The two companies crowd-source director submissions, for the first time ever, from all corners of the globe.
Each entry is submitted through Withoutabox, an online community that offers independent filmmakers a way to distribute their entries to film festivals worldwide.
Thousands of resumes, bios, and short films are then sent to a panel of judges, who narrow the list down to four winning finalists.
These four filmmakers get the chance to direct their own films, utilizing the event theme “Anticipation,” having Lexus Short Films and The Weinstein Company produce them.
As a bonus, each winner is awarded promotional theatrical distribution, an at-home filmmaking and editing suite, and the opportunity to participate in a tour of top film festivals around the world in 2016.
“Partnering with Lexus on the Lexus Short Films series allows us to discover new filmmakers that are the potential future stars of the film industry, providing the community with their approach on storytelling and directing,” said David Glasser, Weinstein Company COO. ”
The winners of this year’s Lexus Short Films competition were announced on November 15 and their films will be shown at an exclusive world premiere event at the 2016 Napa Valley Film Festival.
