Finally…The Lexus LF-LC Concept Has Hit the Road!
It’s been a long time coming for the much-discussed and as-yet in-the-works Lexus LF-LC concept project, but recently, some observant automotive industry journalists have uncovered some compelling evidence that points toward the company’s continued efforts to push the LF-LC toward production. Originally surfacing at the 2012 North American Auto Show and making repeated appearances in various colorful forms at other subsequent shows, it’s been uncertain for some time whether or not the well-received concept was going to make it to the factory. But, as we’re happy to report, these striking new images of what clearly appears to be an LF-LC sporting some hypnotic test camouflage seem to be putting the lingering doubts to rest.
The Lexus LF-LC, which stands for ‘Lexus Future-Luxury Coupe,’ is a sleek, race-ready two-door sports coupe that aims to up the ante in the luxury performance department of the Lexus lineup, essentially establishing a more ‘high-performance’ luxury category in the company’s portfolio, and, in a sense, picking up where the Lexus SC sports coupe program left off. Possibly stacking up against such equally road-and-track-ready favorites as the Acura NSX, the Nissan GT-R, or, perhaps more appropriately in terms of a focus on GT-style luxury, the BMW 6 Series, the LF-LC seems to be preparing for an exciting debut, and we’re getting antsy ourselves just waiting to see what comes of the next stages in the redefining concept’s journey to production.
Powered by the company’s increasingly popular Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive System and galloping confidently at almost 500 horsepower, the details of the LF-LC’s whole physiology are still mostly shrouded in tantalizing mystery. Observing the shared details of the concepts shown thus far, it would also seem that an astutely customized array of remote touchscreen accommodations is also certain to add to the new model’s luxury character, however. Though there’s been some debate as to whether or not to expect the production model to retain the concept title, it seems to be settled as the company has officially trademarked the LC title as of the end of last year. We’re officially on our way!
It’s still uncertain precisely when the LF-LC will make it’s debut, of course, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to have a great time gearing up for an all-new chapter in Lexus’ increasingly diverse stable of vehicles.
