Highland Park Gears up for annual Taste Event, Featuring Port Clinton Art Festival
Last weekend Highland Park celebrated the city’s 9th annual Taste of Highland Park, while sharing the stage with one of the most top-rated festivals in the nation, the Port Clinton Art Festival.
Since 2006, Highland Park has held the Taste festival, featuring local cuisine, beer and wine tasting, and live entertainment, and Lexus of Highland Park has been right there to celebrate.
Event goers had their choice of delectable eats that consisted of everything from tacos and sushi to pizza and ice cream. This year, the Taste of Highland Park’s one-of-kind entertainment line up included the sounds of groups like Maggie Speaks, Howl at the Moon, the Highland Park Players, and Check with Lucy.
Amy Amdur, owner and founder of Amdur Productions, says that visitors should be ready to completely indulge in the experience.
“It’s a festival for the senses. You can eat, listen to music, dance, see great art, talk to artists and find out their stories.”
Big changes are coming this year, with the Taste festival being held closer to local businesses, it hosts six blocks of vendors, 17 restaurants, three stages, and live entertainment all day long. They’ve also added extra space to accommodate a French guitarist and soft rock music.
The Taste of Highland Park attracts some 275,000 attendees each year and looks to appeal to an even wider audience as it shares the center stage with the area’s finest, Port Clinton Art Festival. Recognized by Sunshine Artist Magazine as one the most successful juried art festivals in the country, the Port Clinton Art Festival features artwork from more than 260 popular artists worldwide, even showcasing the work of talented creatives aged 18 years of age and under.
The Art Festival is dedicated to fostering creativity and an atmosphere of learning, while allowing young artists the chance to be a part of onsite interactive art demonstrations by master artists.
