Highland Park Holiday Events
There’s so much to enjoy this holiday season in Highland Park. Our community will be hosting a range of yuletide events. Here’s a roundup of the holiday celebrations!
The first annual Valli Produce Evanston Holiday Food Drive in partnership with WLS-FM and local schools will take place December 9 through January 3, 2016. Donations of non-perishable items can be made at Valli Produce Evanston in the name of participating local schools that will compete to see who can bring in the most items, with the winning school receiving a $1000 prize. Come drop off items in each local school’s bin and help them win athletic supplies, computers or other options. All donations made during the Valli Produce Evanston Holiday Food Drive will be given to The Harvest Food Pantry in Evanston. WLS-FM’s Marti Jones will be broadcasting live from Valli Produce Evanston on Sunday, December 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to help drive donations.
On Sunday, December 20, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Valli Produce Evanston will host a book signing with Celebrity Chef Fabio Viviani, winner of 2015’s Cutthroat Kitchen, as well as a contestant on Top Chef and Top Chef All Stars. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase the celebrity chef’s wildly-popular cookbooks and get them signed for their own collection or to give as holiday gifts.
In the spirit of giving, Valli Produce Evanston customers spending $100 or more will receive a free turkey up to 20 lbs. or a smoked ham up to 10 lbs. This offer is available at the Evanston location only, and while supplies last. It cannot be combined with any other offer and there is a limit of one per customer. Customers must visit www.valliproduce.com/Evanston to print out the in-store coupon for redemption. This offer expires Sunday, January 3.
On Saturday December 19th and Sunday the 20th, join the Highland Park Library for excitement and adventure: games, trivia, prizes, crafts and presentations by astronomers and scientists. The library will be celebrating the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Enjoy games, trivia, prizes, crafts, and presentations by astronomers and scientists. You can also get your picture taken in the Star Wars photo booth!
Also on December 19, one of Chicago’s hottest female blues performers, Liz Mandeville, Chicago Blues Hall of Famer, and her band, the Blue Points, will turn Norton’s Music Palace in Highland Park into the epicenter of an entertainment earthquake guaranteed to have patrons dancing till the doors close. A familiar face and voice on the Northshore blues scene, “Shortstack” Steve Temkin is Special Guest with Liz.
On December 22, you can enjoy Very Funny Magic with Dennis DeBondt. At 6 feet 7 inches tall, Dennis is truly the “Sears Tower of Magic.” He’s not just some guy doing a few magic tricks – he does some of the funniest stuff you’ve ever seen! This show blends his lightning quick wit, improvisational experience (with the famed Second City), and years of performing for a wide range of audiences. Witness the excitement of a child floating in the air during this unparalleled family magic show. It will take place at the Highland Park Library from 2 to 2:45pm.
Don’t forget to stop by Lexus of Highland Park to pick up the best and biggest present you can buy! No holiday is complete without a new Christmas ride.
