Lexus CT200h Named Most Ecological Car of 2014/2015
Back in 2011, the Lexus CT200h beat out the competition as the most ecological car in the German VDC Traffic Association’s ecological car assessment program. This year, the car maker’s luxury hybrid model once again rose to the top of the class in 2014.
In addition to being named the most ecological car of 2014/2015, the CT200h was dubbed the winner in the compact car category, as well.
For almost 30 years, the VCD has been an avid proponent for sustainable mobility in Germany and a popular transport and environmental agency.
Its influence reaches far and wide as it strongly advocates for greater passenger rights, enhanced climate and environmental protection, cleaner cars, buses, and motorcycles, increased safety for children, and more fuel efficient vehicles and travel.
Most relevant is the VCD’s C02 emission-related ecological automobile insurances that it offers, as well as its annual rating of cars and the levels of pollution and gas they consume.
When the VCD published this year’s ranking for the most environmentally-friendly cars showcasing the CT200h at the top of the list, naturally, Lexus of Highland Park felt like a proud parent.
Out of the 400 vehicles that were tested, natural gas vehicles made up about four of the top ten and are evaluated based on fuel consumption and the amount of carbon dioxide emissions rejected per kilometer, noise levels, and the amount of pollutants generated in the combustion process.
The results of the VCD’s findings offer buyers an incentive to purchase hybrid models like the CT200h, while demonstrating that natural gas technology helps lower carbon dioxide emissions.
Not only did the Lexus CT200h rise to the challenge this year, it went above and beyond the target of the European Commission – which is to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the U.K., 40 percent by 2030.
The carbon dioxide gas emission limits set by the E.C. is a max of 95g/km for each new automobile introduced to the market after 2020.
The Japanese car maker’s hybrid luxury car delivers an impressive 82 g/km of CO2 emissions. Clearly, a leader in not only the hybrid class of vehicles, but the compact car category, as well.
Stop by Lexus of Highland Park and find out why the CT200h ranks high on the German 2014/2015 eco-friendly list of cars.
