Lexus Drivers Get Their Own Parking Spots
In a move that’s been making heads turn in more ways than one, Lexus recently made a deal with Edmonton’s International Airport in Canada to provide 30 parking spots that are Lexus exclusives.
The purpose? To provide a “unique experience” for Lexus owners in Edmonton.
The deal is good through March 2017, and Edmonton International Airport said it’s willing to deal with other car makers, should more brands decide to jump on the bandwagon. Of course, there are dissenters—however, it’s an untrue rumor that any of the reserved spaces infringed on handicapped spots. Additionally, the thirty Lexus spots amount to a small percentage of the airport’s available parking; that one parking garage alone has 2,200 spots available as part of 13,000 parking spaces in total on the property.
The General Manager of the Lexus of Edmonton, Matt Miller, explained that the move is meant to extend the dealership experience after the sales papers have been signed.
“What we look to do is offer Lexus drivers a great ownership experience,” said Miller. “So it is the amenities that we offer in the dealership and now finding ways to offer great amenities to them outside of the dealership as well.”
This isn’t the carmaker’s first unexpected partnership this year. Earlier in August, Lexus announced the Zang Toi Collection for Lexus, a partnership with fashion designer Zang Toi to create an all-new wardrobe featuring four custom looks exclusively for Lexus auto show product specialists. Additionally, Lexus hosted their inaugural Lexus Gran Fondo in April, a three-day culinary and cycling event in Boston. In the context of these luxury-aligning campaigns, reserved parking spaces seem to go hand-in-hand.
