Lexus Ranks Highest for Dependability
J.D Powers and Associates has performed research on vehicle quality and dependability for the past 25 years and for three years in a row, Lexus has topped the list for vehicle dependability.
In a study that determines the level of problems that owners of 2011 model year cars have experienced over the past 12 months, J.D Powers found that out of 133 problems discovered per 100 vehicles, engine and transmission problems were the greatest. In 2013, the study detected 126 problems; as the number of issues rose with the 2014 study especially among vehicles with 4 cylinder engines.
Generally, dependability has increased year over year, but as automakers have begun making smaller engines, the desire to create more fuel conscious-vehicles has begun to outweigh the quality of the product.
Gas-saving automobiles are now high on the list of priorities for many buyers and as car makers struggle to meet the growing demand, according to the study, there has been influx in problems associated with “engine hestitation, rough transmission shifts, and lack of power…”
