Lexus RX 350 Ranks #1 for Dependability and Reliability
The five-passenger luxury Lexus RX 350 has been topping the automotive reliability charts for the past 16 years.
First, Consumer Reports, a popular magazine that publishes reviews and comparisons of products and services, listed the RX 350 as a recommended buy among luxury vehicles. Consumer Reports bases its survey on the experience its subscribers have had over the past 12 months with cars made after 2004.
They gather this information from an annual questionnaire filled out by its drivers and any vehicle-related issues are then compiled in a list and published.
It’s a well-known fact that when purchasing a car or truck, one of the most important things people look for besides price, is reliability.
A few of the factors Consumer Reports looks for in vehicle reliability are cost, inconvenience, and rate of failure.
The reliability of a car often makes a difference in how much the car is worth at resale, while determining a car owner’s long-term satisfaction.
Each car listed has its own profile in order to provide a comprehensive look at a car’s history. Those profiles are part of the vehicle’s history chart. Within those charts are scores.
A vehicle’s score depends upon the number of people that reported issues within 17 designated trouble spots including: engine trouble, transmission problems, fuel, brakes, or electrical issues, and failure of power equipment and accessories.
The expectation of this year’s Consumer Reports reliability rating for the RX is better than average. It doesn’t stop there. For another year in a row, the Lexus RX 350 has come out on top.
J.D Powers and Associates is a global marketing information services company and similar to the Consumer Reports reliabiliy rating, J.D. Powers’ dependability Study determines the reliabilty of a three -year-old vehicle based on its performance over a 12 month period. It keeps tabs on any reported problems and then issues a score for each automobile.
According to J.D Powers, the RX ranked the highest in vehicle dependability last year over any other vehile in its class. No other SUV or crossover has been able to claim that title since the Vehicle Dependability Study began in 1990.
Overall, Lexus 350 RX owners reported the least number of problems experienced with their vehicles.
That was the second year in a row. This year, the 2014 RX 350 scored a 4 ½ out of 5 in a predicted reliability rating of “Among the Best,” standing out in front with a score of 57 PP100.
With an increasing emphasis on environmental conservation, it’s easy for automakers today to sacrifice quality for fuel economy, showing up as rough transmission starts, engine hesitation, and lack of power. Lexus has consistently engineered a superior vehicle.
