Lexus Takes ‘One Customer at a Time’ Approach
Lexus set its sights on being the world’s top selling automaker. While this may be the sentiment of some, it could also be said that the competition is close on their heels and willing to do anything to be the best.
Even with what’s shaping up to be a pretty intense rivalry from some of the most world-renowned brands, Lexus of Highland Park knows the Japanese auto maker is still ahead – by leaps and bounds.
Lexus reported one of its best July results ever in 2014. In fact, 27,333 units were sold by the car maker in July, while Audi, one of its leading competitors, posted 14,616 in sales in the same month.
Porsche, one of the world’s most iconic luxury brands, sold 4,300 vehicles in July.
As if those numbers weren’t convincing enough, the parent company Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC), sold a record-breaking 2.583 million vehicles between January and March of this year.
Detroit-based GM, which held the title of the largest global automaker in 2011, posted sales figures of 2.42 million – the German juggernaut Volkswagen, stood at 2.4 million during the same period.
It’s a close call, for sure, but contrary to public opinion, TMC’s spokesperson Shino Yamada says, “Rather than pursuing numbers, we try to sell one car at a time, producing good cars. We aren’t focused on being number one.”
So what’s behind the upsurge in sales? And just how does Lexus manage to stay on top?
It starts with our customers.
The careful combination of consumer confidence and a robust automobile market, in addition to a quality product, has been the driving force for sales.
According to Lexus Group vice president, Jeff Braken, “Lexus dealers turned in their best July results ever…six of the eight Lexus models posted gains for the month.”
Last year, TMC sold a whopping 9.98 million in sales and in 2014, it plans to outdo those impressive numbers by reaching 10 million vehicle sales at year’s end.
No other car maker has had that kind of success in one year.
But then again, those kinds of numbers don’t just happen by accident, and Lexus of Highland Park knows how important it is to put every customer first.
