The 2016 Lexus RX Dazzles at the New York Auto Show
We love good design here at Lexus of Highland Park, which is why we love the new Lexus RX. This luxury crossover SUV, has been a very successful product for Lexus and there’s a good reason. Lexus knows how to give their customers what they want, even if they don’t know what they want yet. Sometimes this requires a bit of flash in addition to the style, comfort and safety Lexus drivers have come to expect.
The RX is a crucial part of the Lexus line-up and is making up the overwhelming majority of its sales of light trucks last year. It also accounts for one-third of all Lexus vehicles sold throughout the company’s history. With that in mind, you know Lexus is going to treat its star right as well as reward car buyers who have remained faithful to the brand. Towards this end, Lexus has ensured the new RX looks and drives on the cutting edge of new design and automotive technology.
Under the hood, the RX features a 3.5 liter V6 that delivers 300 horsepower courtesy of a direct injection, eight-speed transmission. The front end is a little more menacing as well, with a spindle grille and L-shaped head and taillight configurations, but probably the most eyeball-snagging design feature happens where the roof and rear end meet. Instead of the C-pillars that you would normally expect to connect the roof to the rear body, the design incorporates a combination of chrome, metal, and glass to create an almost deceiving optical illusion. It looks as if the rear windows wrap around the back of the car, with two triangular angles jutting out to give it an aerodynamic look. It’s a head turner for sure.
Additionally, twenty inch wheels can be customized to match the car’s color, and on the inside, a stylish modern look prevails as technology sits pretty in the dash with a 12.3 inch monitor. New safety upgrades have also been implemented in this luxury midsize vehicle to couple safety with excitement. The new RX features the Lexus Safety System+ which includes collision avoidance and accident prevention systems to help keep drivers and their passengers safe.
Unfortunately we’ll all have to wait a little bit longer for the new RX to hit showroom floors, but in the meantime, come check out the other RX models we have in stock. We care about what you want, so stop in at 2930 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park, IL.
