3 Things To Do Around Chicago This August
Summer is winding down and school is just around the corner, but before the summer comes to an end, there are tons of fun things to do around Chicago this August.
Chicago Air and Water Show
Those who are into aerial spectacles can look forward to the Air and Water Show Chicago presented by the City of Chicago and Shell Oil Products U.S. It is the largest free show of its kind in the United States.
The event begins Saturday August 16 and continues into Sunday, August 17. You can watch the family- and kid-friendly event unfold along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak streets. North Avenue Beach would be the best focal point.
You can expect to see the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, which is made up of over 120 personnel. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels may even make an appearance as they have done in the past. You will also see the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs jump from 12,500 feet and reach speeds of 120 mph.
For those in the know, schedule a boat tour for the event for the best vantage point, as many boat tour companies include the Air and Water Show Chicago as part of their tour offerings.
