Lake Bluff Gears Up for Fourth of July Celebration
Lake Bluff, Illinois is hosting it 104th annual 4th of July Celebration on Friday, July 4th at Village Hall!
One of Lake Bluff’s favorite traditions marches on, WOW-ing parade goers with talented bands, special appearances, incredible acts, and non-stop entertainment.
Last year, almost 24,500 people attended the 2013 Lake Bluff 4th of July Celebration, calling it the “best parade ever” as it streamed live from Lake Bluff and reaching audiences as a far off as California and parts of Spain.
Highlights of last year’s parade featured performances by the South Shore Drill Team who performed at both the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade and the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade that same year.
With such a spectacular parade day lineup, it’s easy to forget about the fireworks!
Other groups that have graced the annual parade route are The Lawn Mower Precision Drill Team, Chicago Sketch Comedy Group, “Think Tank”, and First Place Parade Winners,”Mustache Marchers.”
This year promises to be ever better, as new entries like the crowd-pleasing Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile and old Lake Bluff favorites like the Big Top Circus Band of Lake County, make their 4th of July debut.
Several other memorable acts like the Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Highlander and the infamous Lake Bluff Lawnmower Precision Drill Team, will also be returning next month.
The Lake Bluff 4th of July Parade is headed up by 15-member volunteer committee committed to putting on an event that brings to life the spirit of the holiday.
Each year the committee begins planning in September with the help of organizations like the Kawanis Club, Public Works, the Village Board, and dozens of community volunteers.
Lake Bluff’s patriotic parade wouldn’t be a success without the assistance of the American Legion Post 510 and countless other committee partners.
The annual 4th of July Celebration is funded entirely through public donations and scholarships. Now, 104 years after the inaugural parade, it is an event that garners the attention of spectators near and far who enjoy a festive celebration of our nation’s independance.
Last year’s event had near record attendance and with a combination of mild weather, great food, and good times.
