Lexus LX 570 Finds Perfect Blend of Luxury and Capability
The capability of a Land Cruiser, coupled with the luxury of a Lexus; that’s the Lexus LX-570. The reason being is that the Lexus LX 570, as well as previous generations, are heavily modeled after sister brand Toyota’s Land Cruiser.
In fact, when the third generation of the popular, full-size sport utility vehicle debuted in 2007, it wasn’t made available in Japan, but countries like New Zealand, China, Australia and Russia. It was also sold in North America and in specific areas the LX 570 is offered alongside the Land Cruiser.
In the beginning, the hefty and very capable LX 570 began its rise to stardom as the Lexus 450. The brand’s first road truck was designed to cater to the SUV-hungry market of the 90’s.
Perhaps trade sanctions that were in the works on Japanese luxury cars in the U.S. auto industry led to a Lexus-designed SUV that mirrored the Toyota Land Cruiser. Here at Lexus of Highland Park, we believe this SUV is the perfect blend between rugged capability and luxury.
The LX 450 was built to compete against the more established sport utility names like Range Rover, as it offered a 4.5 liter L6 engine, seven passenger leather seating, keyless entry, 6-disc CD changer, power moon roof, and electric front and rear locking differentials. It targeted suburban buyers that didn’t mind shelling out $45,000 plus for a solidly crafted off-road truck that was also refined in nature.
The LX 470 launched in 1997 at the Los Angeles Auto Show gained a more luxurious interior and several other features like Optitron instrumentation, but largely remained similar to the 450 body styling.
By 2008, the LX 570 had entered the market, and this time, ahead of the closely resembled Land Cruiser. Now a more established and tested name, the 570 came equipped with greater towing capacity and a more powerful engine giving brands like Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and Lincoln Navigator a run for the money.
