Lexus to Show LC 500 at 2016 Detroit Motor Show
To be honest, it has been quite a long wait. That is to say, car enthusiasts and Lexus fans alike have been waiting very patiently to here news with regard to Lexus’ new luxury coupe, and we are just now getting information that will hopefully bring some satisfaction to all these fans. That is, the new Lexus luxury coupe—the LC 500—is set to make its debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in early January of next year. Two powertrains will be available for the vehicle: a V8 (LC 500) and a V6 (LC 500h).
The LC 500 coupe will be powered by a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated v-8 engine, producing 477 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. This is the exact same engine used by the Lexus RC F and the GS F. According to Motoring Australia, this engine, too, might be paired with the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission, which was developed by Aisin. This will lead to a more efficient performance all around.
The LC 500h will feature a milt-hybrid system (like that of the Prius). The engine will be powered by an all new 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower. The electric motor will produce about 217 horsepower. That is a combined output of roughly 470 horsepower. Too, both the LC 500 and the LC 500h will more than likely feature new carbon fiber components that work to significantly reduce the overall weight of the vehicle.
Differing itself from the new TNGA (Toyota new global architecture) that is going to be used on all Toyota models in the future and that first appeared on the Prius, the new LS and LC model Lexuses will, more than likely, use quite different underpinnings. The big Lexus cars will most likely use a rear section from the TNGA, but will add the aforementioned aluminum space frame setup for the front end.
As far as looks are concerned, both the LC 500 and the LC 500h will feature Lexus’ bold spindle grille, sleep and slanted headlights, as well as angular air intakes. Either way, what we absolutly can feel comfortable about assuring you, without a doubt, is that the new Lexus LC 500 and the LC 500h will be a stunning piece of machinery, hands down.
Other than that, very little is known about Lexus’ new LC 500 and LC500h. But you can rest assured that as soon as more information is known, we will be among the first to let you know.
