Highland Park’s How-to-Fest
Recently the residents of the North Shore of Highland Park were able to participate in the city’s How-To-Fest on May 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event was held inside numerous businesses throughout downtown Highland Park, and residents were able to move from location to location, participating in a number of demos as well as taking advantage of the vast amounts of refreshments provided by each business.
And the events were certainly numerous and unique. For example, Posh Essentials, 658 Central Ave., hosted complementary bar fittings in their store. The event also featured sweet treats and chances to win a number of fabulous prizes. Too, Posh Essentials were also offering a 15% off discount for anyone who brought in a new or gently used bra for donation. All bras were donated to The Bra Recyclers, which supports more than 80 organizations around the world with regard to assisting women and girls in need. Pam Hillman, the owner of Posh Essentials, noted that the How-To-Fest was a “unique opportunity to showcase all the great shops Downtown Highland Park has to offer.” She continued: “At Posh, we really strive to be involved with helping women feel confident, and having a perfectly fitted bra can really boost a woman’s self esteem.”
Too, Beanstalk, located at 654 Central Ave., showed their new and quite interesting line of summer toys for beach and backyard use. Along the same lines, Sprout Kids, located at 644 Central Ave., showed off their numerous variety of fun, custom made shirts. And that is not all, shops like Love That Spice, located at 1893 Sheridan Rd., provided a number of samples as well as a demonstration with regard to how one goes about brewing anti-inflammatory tea. Participants here also received a 15% off discount on any anti-inflammatory spice blend and tea blend. Too, Therapeutic Kneads, located on 1779 Green Bay Rd. Suite 101, hosted an event they called “Pillow Talk.” Here, participants were taught the importance of pillow fit and aromatic fragrances that can help provide a more comfortable and relaxing sleep.
Needless to say, this year’s Highland Park How-To-Fest went off without a hitch. There was something for everyone to enjoy, which means everyone certainly learned something as they left the event.
