Northern YMCA Gets Grant for Nationwide Program

There has been over $430,000 done by SSLF to provide 52 programs across the nation as of 2018. Despite the 18 million swimming pools across the country, more than a third of Americans do not know how to swim. The SSLF tells us on their website that 10 people die a day due to drowning, and they want to help prevent that. Your local NSYMCA is a part of that, and whether you do or do not know how to swim, it’s important that you encourage others to learn to do so. Research shows that if parents haven’t taken swimming lessons, it is highly likely that their kids won’t, either. This creates generations of humans who don’t know how to save themselves in an unexpected situation.
