Lexus ES is a Rare Breed
Let’s talk about luxury vehicles. There was a time in automotive history where the mark of any luxury vehicle was said vehicle’s ability to provide both drivers and passengers with the smoothest and quietest of rides. With the success of BMW, however, such a style has recently gone to the wayside. In its stead, automaker’s have attempted to copy BMW’s success by producing firm-riding, sporty, powerful luxury vehicles. Now, this of course is all well and fine, and not at all a slight against BMW; however, some of us miss the smooth rides luxury vehicles used to provide. Well, rejoice smooth-riding fans, because the Lexus ES has all of us covered.
That is to say, the good folks over at Lexus decided to take a more old-school approach with regard to their new Lexus ES model in that the luxury vehicle is geared far more to like those of yesteryear than it is the BMW-inspired powerhouse luxury vehicles of the modern era. Of course, this obviously makes the Lexus ES a rarity of its time.
The new Lexus ES is quite the roomy vehicle, as well, to say the least. This could be the result of the only complaint with regard to the vehicle in that it still has hints of that BMW-inspired styling. This is more than prevalent in the vehicle’s front grille, which is big and looks like it is hiding a huge, powerful engine. But that is certainly persnickety small potatoes compared to what the vehicle actually is, which is an incredible old-school luxury vehicle that offers the smoothest of rides with all the bells and whistles you can ask for. Too, the new Lexus ES is offered in a hybrid model that the EPA has estimated at 40 miles per gallon in the city and 39 miles per gallon on the highway, which, given the ES’ roomy qualities, is quite an impressive showing.
Of course, Lexus has been a champion of the luxury vehicle for quite some time now due mostly to the sheer positive customer satisfaction rate. That is to say, Lexus have had the honor of having the number one ranked vehicle on the famous J.D. Power Dependability Study for five years in a row, and the automaker does not look like it is going to change its tune anytime soon. The new Lexus ES starts at around $38,000 and $41,000 for the hybrid version.
