Lexus Hints at LS 500 F Sport at the NY Auto Show
Lexus chose the 2017 International Auto Show in New York to showcase the LS 500 F Sport for the very first time.
Lexus has stepped up the game with the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport. The brand has incorporated the F Sport treatment in various types of their vehicles, even hybrids. Take note though that it’s not just for aesthetic purposes because the power ratings still remain the same. This latest generation of LS boasts the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission.
Packed full of features:
When it comes to the F Sport version, features include a dedicated grille, sport seats, alloy wheels, aluminum cabin highlights that include the footrest and pedals, a 6-piston brake upgraded up front along with back 4-piston brakes. It is also incorporated with a special steering wheel. The front seats of the F Sport offer more support suited for more spirited driving.
One more feature that would stand out from the LS 500 F Sport is the rear-drive option. This provides a better handling package that would positively impact the 500 F’s prowess especially on curvy roads. It also boasts Lexus Dynamic handling and includes active rear steering along with variable ratio steering to assist in guiding the rear wheels around the corners. Meanwhile, the air suspension features an Active Stabilizer system that works best for flatter cornering.
Style as good as it looks:
Customers can order the LS F Sport with exclusive Circuit Red interiors. Lexus has claimed that the company spent five months using CAD software in order to get the right spindle grille fit for the F Sport. Other notable details are the Ultrasuede in the seats as well as the brushed aluminum trim that makes a sportier refinement of the interiors.
Under the hood:
The LS 500 F Sport contains a 415 horsepower, twin-turbocharged V6 engine. It can also be purchased with a hybrid powertrain and an all-wheel drive option. Those who are power-hungry need to be aware that the car’s boosted 3.5-liter V-6 output is still the same with the regular LS 500’s, with 415 horsepower plus 442 lb-ft of torque. According to Lexus, it takes just 4.5 seconds to go from zero to 60mph. The previous LS 460 F Sport that was tested also made the same run in 6 seconds.
Lexus may pass on launching a full-scale rout of the Bavarians and Swabians but this new LS basically suggests that it’s definitely up for a return to the playing field after being absent for years as a serious contention. Lexus means serious business debuting this new FS generation. This incredible sedan shows a lot of promise not just in added features but also in its looks and revved-up engine. The 2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport is projected to be available by early 2018.
